1st Post & Intro

I'm not usually too big a fan of blogs because they always seemed too frivolous or used to vent/whine publicly. My intent for this blog is to track my progress, thoughts, comments, etc on my many crafts & hobbies.

I enjoy writing (mostly medieval fantasy, sometimes a bit of sci-fi/futuristic), drawing/painting, & more recently I have gotten very involved in knitting & hand spinning yarn. I live in the Pacific Northwest & love our mild, somewhat rainy weather. Rain=green goodness out here.

As much as I love to craft, I find that I tend to get so into it that sometimes I get a little overwhelmed or too one-tracked & my other crafts fall by the wayside. I'm not big into New Year's Resolutions, so these are more like craft "goals" for 2011:

Knitting/Spinning:

• Knit 4 "tops" this year, at least one of which has to be a full blown sweater.
• Knit at least one skirt/dress this year
• Either learn to sew in linings or get my 2 completed skirts lined professionally
• Learn how to knit colorwork/stranded, or how to do pockets, or how to hand sew in zippers
• Use the drumcarder more
• Try not to add to the stash until using up at least one of the same item (knit a pair of socks=can buy 1 skein sock yarn)

Writing:

• Do NaNoWriMo (not necessarily during official NaNoWriMo)
• Complete outline of "big" story, preferably have part one drafted

Drawing/Painting:

• More ACEOs
• Complete 1 Ann Kullberg kit

Most likely I'll only be blogging about the knitting/spinning as this is the easiest to document & what I am spending most of my time on at the moment. I'm sure I'll add in random extras along the way.
